Matthew started Koppinger Performance in 2016 growing the company from a passion of BMWs and 20 years of automotive experience. He is an Army combat veteran and served over 22 years in the military, both in the active duty and reserves. During his time in the Army he worked as a diesel mechanic and spent some time training new recruits at Fort Jackson SC. He has earned a Bachelors of Science from UNC-Asheville in 2015 and has graduated numerous professional development courses including advanced leadership courses. Matt’s passion for BMWs and European cars truly took over his life after purchasing his first BMW in 1998, he’s been hooked ever since!

Scott Sturdy is known to many in the BMW world as the Festmeister, creating and coordinating the greatest vintage BMW car show in the world, The Vintage! Scott is a BMW fanatic who has spent the last 18 years cultivating an event that gathers a huge family of BMW lovers in the mountains of Western North Carolina every May. He is also the service advisor for Koppinger Performance where he began in April of 2020. Scott’s background includes more than just BMWs, he is an accomplished photographer, commercial illustrator, artist, bassist in a punk rock band, and entrepreneur. His presence at Koppinger Performance has become the crucial link between the clients and the technicians.

Sam has been with Koppinger Performance as a technician since July of 2019 and has been an integral part of the team since day one. He graduated from UTI Houston’s Automotive Technology course prior to enlisting in the Army. Sam is a combat veteran who served on active duty for 6 years during which he deployed to Iraq as a helicopter crew chief. Since returning home he has worked in the automotive world ranging from paint and collision, a custom automotive shop, and in a dealership for 8 years. We are proud to have him as a part of our team!

Jose joined Koppinger Performance in September 2022 as a technician. He attended UTI Nascar Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC where he graduated with honors. He has worked on cars since he was a child alongside his father developing his automotive passion. Jose has worked in different fields such as construction, painting, and building stringed instruments yet he has always returned to his passion for cars. He came to Koppinger Performance with a strong background in BMW maintenance and repair which made him a perfect fit.
